Racquets Club Hosts Junior Squash Coaching Program

The Steamships Racquets Club in Moresby hosts children every weekend for Squash and Tennis coaching.

Every Saturday, between 9-11am, school children are seen enjoying a game of either Squash or Tennis.

Squash, once a dying sport in the country, is using these coaching activities to develop future squash players.

The kids are currently taking part in the junior squash development program, coached by PNG’s number one male squash player, Madako Suari Jnr.

Recognising the program, the Oceania Squash Federation will be giving squash coaching accreditation courses to the coaches of Port Moresby Squash fraternity, this weekend.

The junior squash coaching program runs throughout the year and is open to the public to join. The Squash team hopes to have more children join the program in the coming months.

The current juniors representing PNG on various Australian Tournaments over the past two months are also back in the country.

Christopher Whitchurch and Amity Alarcos are back in the courts. Whitchurch, who is preparing for the upcoming North Queensland Qualifiers in Cairns next week, says he is ready.
