NCD Governor’s Cup Finals Kick Off

Yesterday (January 1, 2017) saw the semi-finals of the Annual NCD Governor’s Cup played at the Kone Tigers Oval.

Over 50 teams have participated in the Competition during the Festive period.

According to Competition Coordinator, Felix Atusa, no major hiccups were faced, and they expect a smooth run to the Cup finals.

With most sports taking a break for the Festive Period, Rugby League continued their momentum from last year into 2018.

At the muddy turf of Kone Tigers Oval, teams with torn and tainted jerseys covered in dirt rubbed shoulders with sheer determination for the most coveted prize in this part of the city, the NCD Governors Cup.

The prizes on offer in the Men’s 9s competition include the Plate and Bowl play-off – and of course the top prize – the Governor’s Cup.

The Women’s competition also held concurrently and has seen five teams play for the Cup.

Tournament Coordinator Felix Atusa was concerned, the slight delay in yesterday’s events could result in some games postponed to the next day.

He appealed to teams to corporate with the technical officials to complete the games on a positive note instead.
