Having operated in Papua New Guinea since 1929, a strong focus on community initiatives has been the mainstay of Oil Search Limited’s business.
According to Oil Search Managing Director, Peter Botten, Oil Search’s work in communities, through its core business, as well as through the Oil Search Foundation, is key to the company’s continued success.
He says in recent years, Oil Search has worked on improving its partnerships at all levels. According to the company, partnering, collaboration and strong relationships underpin their success in Papua New Guinea.
Building on activities in previous years, 2016 saw the Company deliver sustainable development outcomes that not only support Oil Search’s strategic goals but will also have a lasting impact on the quality of life in PNG.
Of particular focus has been the work done at Tari hospital, Hela Province, through the new Hela Provincial Health Authority. Since October 2015, Oil Search has delivered US$2.3million (K6.9 million) of improvements to the hospital’s facilities, including a new tuberculosis (TB) ward.
Oil Search has also partnered with government in delivering key infrastructure. These include the National Football Stadium, Sir Manasupe Haus, as well as APEC Haus, which will be used for APEC in 2018.
