NRL Coaches under the microscope

Coaches are not the only ones who should be at the receiving end of the blame if a team does not perform to the best of its abilities.

This was raised recently by Broncos half, Ben Hunt, following the termination of West Tigers Coach, Jason Taylor, with his team’s ill performances in the season’s opening matches being the main reason.

Canterbury Bulldogs, Des Hasler, is now the next coach put under the microscope.

Even Anthony Griffin was sacked following a similar situation back in 2014, and Wayne Bennet was brought back to coach the Brisbane Broncos after resigning from the Newcastle Knights.

Hunt said, it goes both ways, the players must also up their game.

Having trained under Taylor, Hasler and Griffin at some point in the last few years, Hunt insists modern-day rugby league instills unbelievable pressure on coaches, despite efforts from their end to get the team into form.

He added, after losing only the three first matches of the season, Taylor was shown the door, and it is too early to be given the sack.
