A budget of K20,000 is needed to support the Madang Police Special Operations for this festive season, but the Madang police coffers are still empty.
Despite the signs of the economy’s downturn, the Madang Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Jacob Singura has officially launched the festive season’s Special Operations today.
“For the festive period 2016-2017, that’s Christmas and New Year, the police special operations is now effective as until the 2nd of January 2017,” Singura said.
Commander Singura at the launching reminded his officers, that maintaining law and order during this period, includes the conduct of Madang’s policemen and women.
“Just because we wear the Royal Papua New Guinea Police uniform, [it] doesn’t mean we are above our countrymen and women: no,” said Mr the Police Commander.
The PPC warned, that the police force is an organisation of discipline, and his officers’ conduct should be according to that discipline code.
“A lot of misbehaving is at our own doing, and that’s not in our line of duty,” Singura stressed.
The Police Commander concluded, to remind his officers that their own security is also very important, and they should be mindful and celebrate the festive season responsibly with their families.
“You respect the community, the community will respect you,” Singura concluded.
