Third Suspect in K1.2 million Jackson’s Airport Robbery Arrested

Port Moresby Police have arrested a third suspect in the K1.2 million robbery. This was confirmed by NCD and Central Divisional Commander, Sylvester Kalaut, this afternoon.

The suspect is an employee of the third-level airline that was supposed to have transferred the money.

The other two suspects are a bank employee and a reservist police officer.

Three of the firearms that were used in the robbery were recovered by police including, one of the three vehicles that was used as a get-away in the robbery.

Over K20,000 in cash was recovered. The robbery happened on November 3 of this year at the Jackson’s airport.

All three suspects are charged for Robbery under the Criminal Code Act, and are in police custody.

It is reported that police bail has been refused.

Police believe that the K1.2 million Robbery was an organized crime and had involved members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.

It happened on the morning of November 3 as a logging company was about to transfer the money to a waiting aircraft, and later flown to another province.

The money was for a named company’s operations.

The vehicle and firearms used are now in police custody.

Police investigations are continuing, and thet are hoping to arrest two of the prime suspects.
