In Wewak, nearly 700 Catholic faithful took part in the Stations of the Cross.
Despite the heavy downpour, followers turned out in numbers to join the procession.
The Stations of the Cross began inside Moem Barracks and ended on Wewak Hill.
Meanwhile, Wewak Police say Easter has commenced on a positive note with no major crime committed in the past 48 hours.
