US Embassy Announces Funding Opportunity for Women’s Empowerment

The U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby announced a new funding opportunity from the U.S. Department of State’s Full Participation Fund, the Grants Program for Women’s Empowerment.

This opportunity is open to not-for-profit, non-governmental, community-based, and civil society organisations registered in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, or Solomon Islands.

A total of USD $100,000 is available for this program through our implementing partner PNG Tribal Foundation.

Applications may be submitted at any time for consideration before the closing date of this announcement on Friday July 28, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. (Port Moresby local time).

The Grants Program for Women’s Empowerment seeks to increase community-based organisations’ capacity to improve the welfare of women and girls in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands.

It encourages projects that promote partnerships among two or more local organisations for a common goal; include young women as project implementers and/or target beneficiaries; incorporate the use of social media; and demonstrate innovative ways to address women’s issues.

Applications forms for the Grants Program for Women’s Empowerment can be found on the U.S Embassy Port Moresby website: https://pg.usembassy.gov/womens-empowerment-small-grants-request-proposals/#
