UOG PUSHES MAJOR REFORMS UNDER STRATEGIC PLAN

By Bradley Mariori

The University of Goroka Vice Chancellor, Dr Teng Waninga, says the university is undergoing major reforms under its 2022–2027 Strategic and Corporate Plan.

He said the plan sets out 10 key pillars that guide all academic and administrative work at the institution.

He said the reforms focus on two main areas: academic restructuring and administrative reform.

Dr Waninga said an academic audit has already been completed. Outdated courses have been removed, and new programs are being introduced to meet current needs.

“We have completed phase one. We reviewed all programs and removed those that are no longer relevant,” he said.

He said the university is now moving into the next stage, which includes strengthening postgraduate programs and aligning courses with industry demand.

He said the goal is to produce graduates who can work across the region and internationally.

The university is also benchmarking its programs with institutions in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and other Pacific countries.
