By Bradley Mariori

The university is planning a major increase in staff numbers as part of its reform program.

UOG Vice Chancellor,  Dr. Teng Waninga said teaching positions are expected to grow from around 400 to 1,200.

He said the expansion is needed to support the rising student population.

He said the proposal is still going through the approval process.

Dr. Waninga said the extra positions will improve teaching quality and strengthen academic support.

He said the move is part of wider reforms to modernise the university system.

He added that new academic programs will also require more staff in the future.

The university has also carried out major infrastructure upgrades across its campus.

Dr. Teng Waninga said the work includes roofing, painting and general maintenance of key buildings.

He said the aim is to create a clean and modern learning environment for students.

He said facilities such as the Muksaron Auditorium have been fully renovated.

“We want students to learn in a clean and safe environment,” he said.

He said landscaping and beautification work is also ongoing.

He said the upgrades are part of efforts to improve student experience and campus life.
