TVET For Moresby South

Four hundred and thirty five students under the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) program received their scholarship funds today.

Member for Moresby South, Justin Tkatchenko, and Governor for NCD, Powes Parkop, presented the cheques to the students at the Don Bosco Technological Institute.

Minister Tkatchenko said two million kina was allocated for this program to ensure that the electorate becomes one of the best educated electorates in the city, and to also contribute to the development of the country.

He added that only seventy five percent of students under the scholarship program graduated last year and would like that percentage to increase this year.

Governor for NCD, Powes Parkop also added that he is working on a new initiative to have students under the TVET program to study in more specialized fields overseas.

The program is aimed to provide technical skills and training to both young men and women.
