Tura makes second last stop in Hela Province

by Godwin Eki – EM TV, Lae

Tura the Kokomo is in Hela Province, spreading the Games message and sharing the Games experience.

The Mascot had a busy two days since his arrival in Hela Province, visiting famous sites, schools, government offices and sponsors.  Hela is the mascot’s second last province on its country tour, having covered the 20 provinces in a space of 5 months.

Yesterday in Hela, Tura met with the Governor for Hela Province, Hon. Andersen Agiru and his provincial assembly members where he was formally welcomed into the province.

In the midst of turmoil in Hela, Tura brought the message of peace, unity and friendship, with the Hela people naming the mascot ‘Inaka the Kokomo’.

In Hela, the word for friend is “inaka”. Synonymous with extending the arm of friendship in order for peace and harmony in society, Tura was nothing but friendly and put a smile on everyone’s faces, thus his new nickname from Hela.

Tura paid a visit to Koroba Secondary School and Wabia Primary in the Komo Magarima district and made a quick stop at the Games official Sponsors – the BSP branch – in Tari on his way back from Komo Magarima.

The mascot made many friends on the way and made sure he stopped for a photo session with the locals as the team passed by. The mascot heads off to Morobe Province tomorrow for the PNG Games. This will be his last province before he wraps up his country tour.
