Tok Piksa – Episode 1, 2017 | Achievements and Challenges in Education Sector

Welcome to the first episode of Tok Piksa 2017. In this episode, we look at the achievements and challenges in the education sector.

EMTV’s journalist, Fabian Hakalits looks at the developments of the Simbu National Polytechnic Institute which will open many pathways for Papua New Guinea, and is expected to house some of Papua New Guinea’s future tradesmen and women.

We also look at some of the development challenges faced by communities in the heartlands of Rigo District, Central Province. Dakevakomana village in particular.

According to EMTV’s journalist Vanessa Knight, Dakevakomana village is among a group of villages in the inland Rigo, which has seen little to no development due to its isolation and poor road conditions. Because of its mountainous and rocky terrain, villagers go through a daily struggle accessing basic services like water, health, and education.

Also in this episode, EMTV’s journalist Fabian Hakalits brings us a story of faith, as the Catholic Church begins the New Year with the Solemnity of the Mary Mother of God, for the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, a year of reflection.
