Three More Polytechnic Institutions for Simbu, Enga and East New Britain

Its welcome news for Grade 10 and 12 school leavers because they will now be able to further their education through several polytechnic institutions.

The National Education Department’s Polytech and TVET Impact Project Coordinator, Wilson Garu told EMTV News that Enga, East New Britain and Simbu have been identified as homes to three more polytechnic institutions in higher learning.

This was part of the latest decision of the National Executive Council. They will be part of the additions to the Lae Polytechnic Institute in Morobe Province.

Mr Garu thanked the National Government for seeing the need to address the school system.

“We are now expanding. The three institutions will cater for the change with other sister institutions including the Lae Polytechnic,”

These polytechnic institutions will offer higher learning diplomas and advanced diploma programs.

These are some of the many opportunities that will also prepare students for university studies.

“What we are at present doing is to consult the universities or industries, to develop curriculum accordingly to their requirements, so that there is a pathway,” he said.

With the government’s support, Mr Garu says the Simbu Polytechnic Institution will become the model school in the country because of the infrastructure and support.
