The 2016 PNG Best Picture Competition

Three Papua New Guineans were privileged to win cash and other prizes on Christmas eve from YuEmBoss PNG Limited.

This was during the awards presentation of, ‘PNG Best Picture of the Year Competition’, at Holiday Inn hotel in Port Moresby.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of YuEmBoss PNG Ltd, Danny Linny, the PNG Best Picture of the Year Competition is an online photo competition. It is an initiative purposely to promote the people, and places in Papua New Guinea.

“I love PNG and its people. PNG is beautiful, and the people are friendly,” said Linny.

EMTV Online was told that the competition started on the 17th of October, 2016, and ended at 5pm on the 23rd of December on a high note. The three winners had their pictures shared, commented, and liked by thousands on Facebook.

Franco Wafumilena, Willie Toromo Waraiemb, and Kingsley Ben W Liru were announced winners of the competition by YuEmBoss PNG Ltd management among thousands of contestants. This was during the awards presentation at Holiday Inn on December 24.

Wafumilena and Waraiembu, who came first and second in the competition, won themselves K500 and K300 in cash respectively, additionally receiving a brand new Huawei media pad each; while Liru walked away with K100 and a Huawei Y5II phone.

According to organisers, Wafumilena’s picture got a massive 36,664 comments to place him in the first place. The young lad from West Papua province of Indonesia, says his friends took the picture of him during a youth convention at 17 Mile area in Port Moresby.

“My friend took the picture of me just for my own records of the youth camp which I have then used after I saw the competition on Facebook,” Wafumilena said.

Also, at an entrepreneurship training today at YuEmBoss PNG Ltd headquarters, director Eric Lin whilst sharing his experience in Iraq as a soldier, says Papua New Guineans are friendly people like the Iraqis, and sometimes the media paints a false image of the people.

“All people everywhere are good. There are few bad kids everywhere which tarnish the societies’ reputation,” Lin said.

He says everyone should work together to build a good image of Papua New Guinea, and urges all businesses, organisations and individuals to take on this responsibility.

CEO Linny says, it’s been a fun and friendly competition, and everyone’s enthusiasm has encouraged the management to do more in the future.

Meanwhile, YuEmBoss PNG Ltd management confirmed to bring on another best picture competition for lovers on Valentine’s Day in 2017.
