Team Jiwaka express frustration over PNG Games medal count

After winning seven gold, six silver and fifteen bronze medals, team Jiwaka is still unsure of where they stand on the final medal tally of the 6th BSP PNG Games held last month in Lae, Morobe Province.

An official of the team, Augustine Pok told EM TV of his frustration. He said Team Jiwaka is not sure where they are positioned on the medal tally.

Jiwaka Province was represented by more than 400 athletes, including the officials at the 6th BSP PNG Games in Lae in November. They took part in 16 different sporting codes.

Team Jiwaka’s Augustine Pok told said he is disappointed about the medal tally and their team’s position after the 6th BSP PNG Games. This is not the first time for this to happen in the PNG Games.

At the 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo, there was also a similar dispute over the medal count.

The athletes of the newly formed Jiwaka Province, together with team officials are still disappointed over the turn of events surrounding the medal tally at the most recent PNG Games.
