The PNG Games has over the years, produced athletes that have gone on to represent their provinces at the national level.
Team Western and team Gulf are known for their great athleticism in sports. The last five PNG Games have seen both provinces take part in the Games representing their province, but this year has turned grey for the two provinces, and they won’t take part in the 6th BSP PNG Games.
This has led both locals in the community including the athletes astray, who are now looking to joining other provinces to be in the PNG Games.
Speaking from Lae today, chief executive officer for the PNG Games Organising Committee, Materua Tamarua, said that because the PNG Games are staged every two years, the Provincial Administration should have a budget to go by and plan ahead in organising and preparing for the Games.
He said there is plenty of time to prepare in advance, so as not to have to face such problems. It is the responsibility of the Provincial Administration to be behind this and following through.
