State of Enterprises role to be discused in workshop

A workshop will be held in Port Moresby next week to discuss ideas on the strategic direction for the role of the (State of Enterprises) SOE’s.

The forum entitled future of public Enterprise and state investments will take place at the state function room.

Discussions will include the State’s funding and ownership structure and mechanisms.

Director of the National Research Institute Dr Thomas Webster says the State currently holds shares in major investments like the 19.5 percent share in the PNG Liquefied Natural Gas Project.

The O’Neill Government, through the Alotau Accord, has made it clear that the Government will ensure that SOEs are profitable and beneficial.
