Sport Scene Episode – 12, 2014

Well it was a big weekend in softball as the Port Moresby Women’s Softball League held its grand finals at the Bisini Diamonds.

Stingerz were looking for a double and Yokomo would stand in their way, while in the A grade, Big players Gazelle wanted Grand final glory as well.

 

To the men’s competition now and Under-dogs United Brothers, proved too strong in Port Moresby Men’s A-Grade 2nd Semi-finals, at the Bisini Diamonds this afternoon, in Port Moresby.

 

A well composed Yokomo outfit opened the match by securing the first innings. But a fired up United Brothers tied up the game one all after the 2nd Innings.

 

By the 6th Innings Yokomo lead 4-3, a vocalized crowd couldn’t stop a determined United Brothers team to take out the match 5-4 at the end of the day.

 

United Brothers will take on Gazelle in next Saturdays Men’s A-grade Grand Final while Defence will take on Brown Eagles in the Men’s B-Grade Grand Final.

 

Beatrice Geita has been involved in the sport of shooting for almost a decade now and with the Pacific Games to be held on home soil, she and her fellow member’s are hoping to bring in some medals. .

 

From shooting to something different but still with the adrenaline rush and the Royal Papua Yacht Club kicked off its fun sailing day as had a fantastic day while taking it slow under the sun as members of club the took to the seas

 

And how good are the SP PNG Hunters? After last week’s disappointing loss to the Northern Pride, they bounced back with a strong performance against the East Tigers. Let’s look at the highlights of that fantastic match.

 

Well Cricket PNG  Cricket PNG with the support of the Australian Government and its Pacific Sports Partnership program launched the 2014 Kriket Blo Olgeta Program / Disability Cricket Program on Saturday 29th March 2014.

 

Saturday 29th of March also coincides with the National Disability Day for PNG.

 Well Papua New Guinea Beach Volleyball Federation began its competition today with a total of 27 teams, 14 men and 13 women.

 

There are five divisions with 4 players in each of the divisions except for division D that has five.

 

The competition is part of the PNG Volleyball Federation Calendar of events to scout talent for the PNG Games, with further training to represent PNG in the 2015 Pacific Games.

It will be played for ten Sunday’s starting with Port Moresby before being rolled out nationwide.

 

With time  fast running  out, It is crucial to bring the PNG Beach Volleyball team to their best before the big games arrive on our shores.

 

Now During the mini Pacific Games in Wallis and Futuna, the women won silver, while the men won bronze.
