SP Open Resumed Day 2

The SP Export PNG Open resumed Day 2 of competition at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club today, with defending Champion Peter Zwart, currently in top spot but holding onto a narrow one shot lead over second-placed Kris Muek.

PNG’s August Peni was also in the mix as the national Champion held his own against professional’s Daniel Valente and James Pattison.

National Champion August Peni began day two, teeing off the 10th Hole, with fellow competitors Daniel Valente and James Pattison, providing stiff competition.

Bonny Pongo, another local talent, also stayed in the mix. The green on the 10th proving tricky with the water’s edge almost costing Peni and Valente. Pongo was playing it safe, but the resultant bogey was disappointing for him.

Peni was using his knowledge of the course to give him leeway as both professionals looked to improve from the previous days standings, which had seen defending champion Peter Zwart take the lead

PGA Tournament Director, Justin Maker, was able to summarize the day one leaderboard. The moral support was also evident as former Kumul and Paga Hill Hooker, Dave Burns was also around to offer his son, Brad, support

Day two of the competition has brought a perfect day on the green at the Royal Port Moresby Golf club, Morobe Open winner Heath Reed remains in contention but it is Defending PNG Open Champion, Peter Zwart, whom all eyes are upon .
