The Sopas Adventist Health Centre in Enga will now play a critical role in delivering health services to the people of the province.
Enga Governor, Peter Ipatas said that this is to help minimize overcrowding at the Wabag Hospital and to support the main hospital’s functions whilst the new, state of art Enga Provincial Hospital was being built.
Governor Ipatas said that the Sopas Adventist Health Centre has gone under huge renovations and is conducive to play the role as a district hospital.
“Sopas has been the highlight of the province (Enga) since its establishment”, added Ipatas.
Ipatas is confident the Sopas Adventist Health Centre will work towards this plan and help Wabag Hospital in cases like surgery operations, including eye operations. He said this will also enable Sopas to upgrade to a district hospital status.
Meanwhile the national government has allocated a sum of K88 million for the initial construction of the new Enga Provincial Hospital in the 2015 budget.
