School Dropouts in Hela Given a Second Chance

School dropouts in Hela province will now have the chance to advance their education through the Hope Institute.

This follows an agreement between UPNG, the Department of Education, and the Tari-Pori District.

Tari Pori MP, James Marape, says this initiative is to improve the level of education for many who have missed out.

It’s an opportunity for many in Hela who have missed out on completing their education due to tribal fights and other factors.

The MOA connotes the move to provide a platform for education for Hela people headed by the Tari Pori District. The learning facility has been constructed just outside the Hela capital for easy access by those attending.

The new learning institution will also provide maternal care for pregnant mothers and also family planning counseling.

Education Secretary, Dr. Uke Kombra, urged school dropouts to enroll and be given a second chance to advance their education.

Local leaders say this move is the first to highlight the importance of Education to the Hela population.
