Sape Selected To Attend Forum In Thailand

The good news about ordinary women in Papua New Guinea now having their own MicroBank, has landed the President of PNG Women, a trip to Thailand.

Brain-child of the Women’s Microbank initiative, Janet Sape, was selected to attend a Regional Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Forum in Thailand.

The three-day workshop will be held in Thailand’s Chiang Mai city. Prior to her overseas travel, Business woman and President of PNG Women in Business, Janet Sape, said she was privileged to participate in the regional activities.

Her efforts were recognised by the Global Funding for Women, following the successful issuance of the Women’s Microbank License by the Bank of PNG, recently.

The Global Funding for Women is a non-profit grant-making foundation that supports women’s initiatives worldwide. This was the same foundation that nominated Mrs Sape for the Global Leadership and Women Empowerment Award which she eventually took out in April 2013.

She hopes to gain more than just experience at the Regional Forum, and market business opportunities for women entrepreneurs who are Members of the PNG Women in Business.

The Regional Workshop on Women’s Empowerment and Leadership will run from May 29th to the 1st of June.
