RESETTLEMENT POLICIES

The Member for Rabaul Open Graham Piniau Rumet on the second day of the Parliament Sitting raised a question on the resettlement policy framework when it comes to people who are affected by disasters and whether or not they are entitled to obtain land titles.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Lands and Physical Planning and Urbanisation John Rosso responded saying, there is a possibility for these people to get land titles.

MP Rumet raised this question as this is concern for the people in his district for the people who were relocated during the 1994 volcanic eruption to find out if they are eligible to acquire land titles in their area of resettlement.

Minister Rosso said that is a possibility.

He further added that the district can work closely with these people and the department of lands will assist them.
