Rebels Rule

The classy performance by Rebels captain Lua Rikis, who led her side to a  20-point win in their opening Round 3 fixture against Mona.

The introduction of a host of younger players including Marilyn Taule and Justina Gabina. It was a far more convincing victory this time around, following up from last weeks frustration against Veupunama.

PNG and Rebels Captain Lua Rikis was all class, as her prowess inside the D boosted her sides winning streak.

Leading 15 – 6 in the first quarter, that lead extended to a massive 43 – 24 as the game ended the 3rd quarter. The final quarter would see a host of changes in the rebels, introducing their youth, as they prepared for what will most likely be a playoff position in the upcoming finals.

Goal Defender Winnie Mavara, was happy with her sides performance, as the rebels cruised to a comfortable 57 -37 goal win.

In the other Tier 2 match, it was a more even contest between Veupunama and Raukele. This is where it saw Raukele’s Melissa Elaúpa and Verere Kala fighting to keep the scores tight, as the first half ended 11 all, the second with Raukele a single point ahead and the third quarter, four points behind.

Their resilience however, holding through, as they fought back in the final quarter to take back the win, at 41- 38 points.
