Prime Minister’s case withdrawn

By Staycey Yalo

Stanley Liria’s lawyer today filed an application before the Court of Disputed Returns to withdraw the case against the Prime Minister.

This is after Liria filed an application at the Supreme Court to seek clarification on the legality of voting on Sunday.

Liria said through other media that the move was due to the rising law and order concern in Southern Highlands.

He said as a leader, he had to lead by example by taking the right step to ease the tension in his electorate to allow Peter O’Neill as the mandated leader to serve the people.

Similarly, another petitioner, Daniel Tulapi, also filed a notice to discontinue the case against Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, because of the election related situation in Southern Highlands.

He appeared before Justice Collin Makail this afternoon, stating that his decision to discontinue was to return normalcy to Southern Highlands.
