Premier Division Soccer Updates

First round matches in the premier division had mid-table rivals Defence and Yarang United face off, with Defence hoping to continue from the previous outings’ good result.

Meanwhile, Kokoda Warriors took on Dekenai Buggers in the other men’s premier match.

Dekenai Buggers were looking to overcome a lacklustre Kokoda Warriors team, who had been thrashed 4-1 the previous week by Keleiruna.

Kokoda Warriors started off the stronger of the two sides with a number of shots on goal but, unable to convert those chances to goals, ended the match in a nil-all draw.

Defence and Yarang United had a fast-paced encounter in the other premier division, with each side spreading play quickly and opening the others’ back line easily; the match ended with Yarang beating defence, 2-1.

Results in the men’s super league saw University draw with Blue Kumuls nil-all and Cosmos lose to Momase by a single goal, with Mungkas and McLaren also having a nil-all score-line. Rapatona beat Yamaros, two goals to nil.

The women’s super league saw Rapatona defeat McLaren with an emphatic 4-0 victory as striker Desly Siniu commended her team’s performance.
