PNG Open Lawn Bowl Tournament Ends Today

The PNG Open Lawn bowl tournament, whichtm started last week, ended today with the men’s singles and women’s fours.

In the women’s division, in fours competition, playing for the third placing, was Goroka taking on Lae.

Goroka defeated Lae taking on the third place, after being led by May Osamae of Goroka, leaving Lae to take on the fourth place.

The match between the two Metro teams saw the first place go to team one, led by Gaiwa Tau, while team two held their backs at second placing.

In the men’s singles, it was game on between Port Moresby and Lae. Representing Lae was Matu Bajo, against Vela Vele, before Matu Bajo defeated Vele with 21 points to 13 to be crowned as the 2017 Champion of the men’s singles, and directly qualifying to represent PNG in world championships, in Sydney in June.

Metro bowling club president Kevin Kautu thanked all participating provinces and all who assisted throughout the tournament.
