Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill is committed towards Bougainville’s 2019 referendum vote.
Mr O’Neill said the date has been set and he will work closely with leaders of both the National and Autonomous Bougainville Governments for a successful referendum conduct. He wants both governments to raise the bar on awareness.
On the draw-down of powers, the National Government will continue to ensure, they are passed down from Waigani.
But it was all smiles, putting their differences aside at the conclusion of the Joint Supervisory Body Meeting as both governments signed resolutions for the implementation process.
The Special Intervention Funds which mainly caters for high impact projects expired this year.
And the National Government has arrangements for the Restoration Development Grants to support infrastructure.
In the September Parliament sitting, the Prime Minister was responding to a series of questions raised by South Bougainville MP, Timothy Masiu…if the Autonomous Region of Bougainville was still an important agenda of this tenth National Parliament.
