Parkop, first candidate nominated to defend his seat

Democratic rights of candidates contesting the elections should be respected at all election times.

This was the message from Powes Parkop, leader of Social Democratic Party and current National Capital District Governor.

Nomination for the 2017 National Election officially began today with NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, as the first candidate nominated to defend his seat.

Prior to his nomination this afternoon, Governor Parkop rallied with supporters at Jack Pidik Park from around Port Moresby city.

NCD TVET sponsored students attending private institutions and associations came in numbers to witness this special occasion, which marks the beginning of a journey on the eve of National Capital District elections.

Parkop told supporters that despite challenges, he was firm in making decisions to develop the phase of the capital city.

Parkop also received contributions from generous private institutions for nomination.

studied at the University of Papua New Guinea graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations. His main areas of expertise within EMTV are the courts, crime and the environment.
