PAPUA NEW GUINEA’S 51ST INDEPENDENCE UNFOLDS THIS MORNING AT INDEPENDENCE HILL

A show of unity unfolded this morning at Independence Hill, as public gathered to celebrate Papua New Guinea’s 51st Independence.

Representatives from partner states also joined the morning occasion to commemorate this milestone.

Prime Minister James Marape delivered his remarks, outlining the government’s focus for the next 50 years.

“In every corner of our country, we cannot expect our partners to carry our burden for us. It is time we shoulder our own burden,” Marape said.

“We must all rise up and work together in the next 50 years.”
