The PNG Rugby Sevens team, the Palais, left for Sydney today to attend the HSBC Sydney Sevens Women’s series.

The 12 member team will be captained by veteran skipper Debbie Kaore.

After months of preparation, the time has come for the Palai’s to fly the PNG flag on the International scene.

The team was at the airport today checking in, when EMTV caught up with the National Coach, John Larry.

Pooled alongside top tier nations in the competition, the Team’s preparation has put them on a good stead and Coach Larry is confident of his side’s ability to perform on the big stage.

The team boasts an array of talent with players like Captain Debbie Kaore leading the pack.

Backing up from a successful campaign prior to the Sydney sevens, the team’s speed and pace could be their greatest asset going up against some of the tournament’s heavyweights.

Another young talent in the squad is Gemma Schnaubelt, the young star will make her international debut for PNG at the tournament.

“We are proud to represent the country,” said Schnaubelt.

However the young less said she has jelled in well with the team since joining camp and is looking forward to give her best in Sydney.
