As of yesterday, the Pacific Games Council has made known that it will be meeting with the Tongan Government in an attempt to persuade them to host the 2019 Pacific Games.
This comes after Tonga announced its withdrawal from hosting the games last month, saying that hosting the games will be harmful for the small island nation’s economy.
Though Tonga’s Head of Local Organizing Committee, Lord Sevele said the Pacific Games Council is willing to have a sit-down with the government and work out best possible approaches towards hosting the games.
Next Monday has already been agreed on as the day both parties will meet.
