Oro Province Presents Acquittals to DIRD

The Oro Provincial Government presented their acquittals for the last five years, to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development yesterday.

Governor Garry Juffa said the province has been facing a lot of challenges in getting funds for development purposes.

Despite the challenges, the province has acquitted a total of K39. 1 million used over the last 5 years.

The funds acquitted and presented were the Provincial Services Improvement Program Funds, and Special Support Grants funds, for the years 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Governor Juffa said the province only received half of the PSIP and Special Support Grants from the government. The province has been faced with challenges in getting the funds.

He said, funds were not received on time, and the province suffers from less internal revenue.

However, the little that the province had received, over the years, have been used for development and are acquitted for. Oro Provincial Administrator, Trevor Magei also shared similar sentiments, saying the province has also been faced with issues of Record Management.

The Secretary for Implementation and Rural Development, upon receiving the acquittals, commended the governor for being transparent.

He assured the people of Oro, that they will work to make sure they receive funds on time.

The Secretary also called on all provinces and districts to have all their acquittals presented to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development on time.
