The Ok Tedi Mining Limited Community Relations Manual captures over 30 years of accumulated knowledge, experience and successul practices in community engagement.
The manual was recently launched in Tabubil by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nigel Parker and Chief Operating Officer, Musje Werror.
Mr Parker, in a statement, said that the manual maintains a harmonious relationship with its Community Mine Continuation Agreement regions, and other stakeholders like the national government, Fly River provincial government, faith based organisations, development partners and local businesses.
The manual outlines the socioeconomic and environmental context, legal and policy framework and procedural requirements for conducting community relations activities.
It provides a practical guide to program methods and activities, to promote consistency and standard procedures in the workplace environment.
It’s a useful reference material for key government agencies, as well as other stakeholders in the mining industry in PNG.
