No Fatal Road Accidents in West New Britain

West New Britain Province has recorded no road accidents for the past 2 months, according to Kimbe Police Traffic Officer-in-Charge, Senior Sergeant, Kevin Tirupia.

This comes after traffic police have been dealing diligently with traffic incidences of unregistered vehicles, bald tyres, overloading, and speeding.

Kimbe Police Traffic Officer-in-Charge, Kevin Tirupia said for the past 4 months there have been no reports of car accidents in Kimbe town. The only accident happened in Bialla where an overturning vehicle killed 3 people, and injuring others.

He said this is because in many accidents, drivers failed to follow traffic rules and road safety standards.

Kimbe MVIL OIC, Dulcie Ragu, said these accidents have been caused by unregistered, or unroad-worthy vehicles. This is something the implementing agencies were tasked to fixing it.

Many times accidents occur because drivers drink and drive, and go over speed limits. The other thing is that unqualified drivers get obtain licenses through back-door dealings.
