NID Registration for CIMC Villages underway

Over 50,000 people from the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages in the Western Province have undergone NID registrations.

There are currently two NID registration teams in the province, one covering land-based villages, and the other covering river-based villages.

The NID and birth certificate registrations began in July 2018 after an MOU was signed between Ok Tedi Mining Limited and the PNG Civil and Identity Registry.

This registration project will cover 158 CMCA villages in the eight CMCA regions which are: North Ok Tedi, Lower Ok Tedi, Highway, Middle Fly, Suki Fly Gogo, Manawete, Kiwaba, Dudi and Mine (MIN-EH) Villages.

The team is currently doing registrations in Kaviananga Village in the Middle Fly and should cover the whole region by December 14.
