Turiboiru Primary School in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville has received the much need help to cater for overcrowding classrooms. Head teacher, Robert Okuru, says the new classroom and furniture received will help his students in that remote part of PNG to learn and do well in their studies.

Established in 1922, Turiboiru Primary School is located in Buin in the South Bougainville District of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

With a student population of over 190 students and 10 teachers the school has faced many problems to which overcrowding has been a big issue.

Taking the responsibility for his school, he decided to apply for the Japanese Grant to seek assistance.

He mentioned that he found it very easy to apply for the grant although he had to do minor changes to his application along the way.

Being a successful recipient of the grant assistance, his school will now receive a new one story building, a teacher’s house, furniture such as desks and chairs and a 9000 litter water tank.
