Netball:Alotau B Grade set for Championships

Alotau's B Grade team of fine young netball talent is all set for the National Netball Championships next week in Lae where they will defend their title.

Dubbed the “A Team” the B grade squad was rewarded for their tireless training and fundraising efforts with a cheque presentation by National Planning and Monitoring Minister and Alotau Open MP, Charles Abel.

Secretary Doctor Peter Kora and his family also pledged a further K5, 000 to support the netballers travel and accommodation expenses.

The strict training regime through rain and shine has ensured the girls are in peak form when they hit the netball courts at the championships.

A team of 12 netballers and three officials have been named to defend their title.

The Alotau Netball Association also hosted a Corporate Companies Netball Championships over the Independence weekend as a fund raiser for its coffers while the team left Alotau today for Lae.
