NDA Questions Ventilation Over PMGH Rehabilitation

Recent renovation and rehabilitation of Port Moresby General Hospital has been evident over the past 10 months.

However, the National Doctors Association (NDA) in the country, is questioning the management of the hospital over the ignorance of natural ventilation in some of the wards.

In a letter addressed to the Board members and CEO of the hospital, NDA are demanding answers, if the Facilities Department of the National Department of Health, was involved in the screening of the work, been done at the hospital.

NDA says the closure of Ward 4’s side wall will only invite infections and diseases to spread, and pose risk to health workers.

NDA is now calling on other major hospitals undergoing rehabilitation, to consider ventilation as a vital aspect, when providing conducive environment for patients and health workers.

Meanwhile, NDA made it clear that the current renovations at Port Moresby General Hospital, is long overdue and commended the management, but called on the hospital board to address this concern.
