National Cricket Coach, Dipak Patel, Leaves

Cricket PNG (CPNG) today formally announced Barramundis Head Coach Dipak Patel’s departure from his national coaching duties.

Coach Patel left CPNG last Friday, following disagreements from both parties regarding the extension of his contract.

Negotiation has been ongoing since March but the Head Coach pulled the plug way before his initial end of contract on August 25th.

His absence will be felt by the National Men’s Team, who were guided by him from 2014 to 2015.

Under his leadership, after gaining ODI status, the Barramundis went on to win a number of big matches in the ICC Intercontinental Cup, the World Cricket League Championship and others. 2014 was also the year Patel guided the Barras to their first ever ODI Series win against Hong Kong’s.

Now sitting in the top 4 in both the WCLC and the I-CUP, CPNG has not revealed anyone available to shepherd the team through to the end of both competitions.
