MT HAGEN CITY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

In a display of pride and honour, police personnel in Mt Hagen took part in the flag raising ceremony to mark the 49th Independence Day celebration at Independence Hill in Mt Hagen.

The event was a symbol of unity and patriotism as the nation commemorated this significant day.

Police officers stood tall and proud as they raised the national flag to mark the 49th Independence Day Celebration.

The ceremony started at 6:30 am as it reflected the sacrifices made by the forefathers to gain freedom and sovereignty for this nation.

Deputy Provincial Administrator Eslie Tikil shared his speech on behalf of the provincial government as he commemorated the 49th Independence anniversary.

“I would like to take this very important opportunity privilege to thank our good Lord for this wonderful day that we gain independence on the 16th of September 1975. It was a very significant moment and time for our country to be declared a state of its own.”

Mr. Tikil said, it was an honor for the Western Highlands Province join other Provinces to participate in this national Event

He further acknowledged the presence of the police personnel on the ground.

 “I would also like to acknowledge our police personnel’s and the discipline forces, they are a sign and the flag carriers of the independence state of Papua New Guinea. They have given their lives including all the public servants to serve our people.”

The participation of the police officers and the locals in the flag raising ceremony signifies their dedication and loyalty for the country.
