Micah Says ADB Meet On SOE’s Vital

Public Enterprise and State Investments Minister, Ben Micah, says Papua New Guinea’s participation at the Asian Development Bank meeting, on State Owned Enterprises, was of great significance to the country.

The meeting was organized by the Asian Development Bank, for countries in Asia, and the Pacific region.

Minister Micah said the experiences and reforms on SOEs, shared by other countries, will be a guide for the PNG government’s plans on reforms, in state owned enterprises.

Since privatizing most of its state agencies, the government has begun a push to rebuild them with a corporate outlook, and have them adhere to standard business, and economical practices, to operate more efficiently.

Telikom PNG has been the latest government agency to look at, drastically reestablishing itself in the market place, and PNG Power looks to be the next, to improve in customer service and reliability.
