Madang FC Determined for a Win in OFC Championships

The Madang football club left PNG shores today for the OFC Champions League in Noumea, New Caledonia.

This call up follows the suspension of Hekari United, who initially qualified for the OFC CL through the National Soccer League Competition.

The responsibility was then passed on to the second runner up, Madang FC.

Madang FC will be playing three matches. They will face Tahiti’s AS Central Sport in three days’ time, followed by a match against host, New Caledonia’s AS Magenta on the 28th of this month.

The final match will be played on the 3rd of March against Samoa’s Lupe Ole Soaga.

Coach Francis Moyap acknowledged that they may not be as good as the Hekari United, but that does not mean they will be defeated easily.

The Madang outfit has some new faces, but the onus will be on the shoulders of experienced players like Vanya Malagian, and Max Singum, with Patrick Aisa from Rapatona, and Jacob Sabua from Lae.

Anticipating tough resistance, the team has been in training for the last two months, and with the 50 per cent makeup of the team being experienced, the team is determined to give their opponents a tough challenge.
