Lelang Signs MOU With Anglican Church

Kandrian-Gloucester MP Joseph Lelang, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Anglican Church of PNG, for the construction and delivery of two impact projects in his district.

The first, Anglican National High School of Excellence and a School of Nursing, will be built at the Kandrian-Gloucester District, of the West New Britain Province.

This was part of the Church-Government partnership policy, to deliver basic education and health services into the districts.

The signing of the MOU was between the Member for Kandrian-Gloucester Honourable Joseph Lelang, and Arch Bishop of the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea, most Reverend Clyde Igara, at the Anglican Church Headquarters in Lae.

These projects will cost a total of K12 million, and is all part of the Church and Government, working together, to co fund service delivery in the Kandrian-Gloucester District.

The signing comes after the two high schools in the district could not cater for all the students that come out from the community schools.

The remoteness and isolation of the district, had contributed towards increasing number of children, who were staying out of school.

The church government partnership, which began in October 2008, is an approach that looks at developing projects, improving basic government services, and delivering them to the people.

The Anglican Church like any other Christian Churches has been providing education, and health services to many rural areas in the country.

The work on the two projects will begin in June, this year.
