Members of the public in Lae have questioned the role of security firms after a man was assaulted by a mob of guards this morning.
The man in the picture was defending his wife after security guards tried to impose illegal spot fines for littering.
Within minutes, the situation developed into a minor street fight between the security guards and the victim.
As his wife ran off to seek help from police, the security guards hit continuously with batons and fists.
Complaints have been filed to police against the firm, Menyamya security.
City residents who were present questioned the training of security guards who are used to guard properties in Lae.
