Athletics PNG’s Sharon Kwarula will be representing PNG at the World Indoor Championship in Poland, after a great performance in her pet event, the 100m hurdles.
PNG’s Sharon Kwarula heads to Poland this week, full of confidence after setting a Lone Star Indoor Conference Championship record of 8.01 seconds and winning the 55m hurdles event last Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.
Sharon helped her team to a school record of 3 minutes 47.59 seconds in winning the 4 x 400m relay.
Kwarula, who is a student at West Texas University, will complete in the 60m hurdles event and will be up against the best in the world, including Olympic Champion, Sally Pearson of Australia.
Sharon is well prepared, having run a total of 8 sprint hurdle races indoors this season, and improving her 60m hurdles time from 8.83 seconds last year to a best of 8.68 this season.
It will be Kwarula’s second world indoor championships, having competed in Istanbul in 2012.
