Kuman: K75 million For Free Education in first quarter

Speaking on the FM 100 Talk Back Show this morning, the Minister for education said that on TFF alone last year, the Government spent K2.7 billion, and there is no excuse for school administrations to charge fees.

He said that primary and secondary schools have received the Tuition Fee Free funding for the first quarter.

Elementary, TVET and Special learning centre schools will receive their funding sometime this week.

On the components of TFF, Kuman said infrastructure is supposed to be covered by District and Provincial government funding.

He said that the government is providing Tuition Fee Free funding that covers administration and materials, and that 20% of DSIP and PSIP funds are supposed to be used for education.

In that funding, district and provincial leaders are supposed to help the government by using the funds to build infrastructure for schools.

While on the material component, Kuman said it was a part of the funding given under TFF.

A total of K75 million for the first quarter TFF Funding is being dispersed this week.
