National Oil & Gas Company, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, recently welcomed back two staff who just completed postgraduate studies.
Elliona Maso and Zechariah Yakap, both graduated with Masters in Oil & Gas Exploration and Production from Centro Superior de Formacion Repsol (CSFR) in Madrid, Spain.
Their postgraduate studies was made possible through a partnership between KPHL and Spanish Oil & Gas company, Repsol.
According to KPHL Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, the development of Ms Maso and Mr Yakap was an important step for the National Oil and Gas Company, as it looks at developing the next generation of professionals within the oil and gas space.
“This is another demonstration of our commitment towards developing capacity within the competitive oil and gas sector, and we encourage all players within this sector to play their part in also developing these skills for local employers.”
For Mr Yakap, lessons learnt during his training will come in handy as he embarks on fulfilling his duties within KPHL.
“Training abroad was a dream come true for me…I look forward to using the knowledge and skills attained to further the work of KPHL in his capacity as a petroleum engineer.”
Similar sentiments shared by his colleague, Eliona Maso.
“…the Masters programme sponsored by Repsol was one of the most exhilarating experiences ever.
The seven-month program engaged employees worldwide where Repsol has operations. If anything, Repsol is truly resilient given that despite current low world oil and gas prices, it still has the capacity to train young professionals from its own operations, as well as other National Oil & Gas companies.”
