Korea DPR came from behind and secured a 3-1 win over France in last night’s Grandfinal match of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup PNG 2016.

Korea DPR fought hard throughout the tournament and successfully defeated France; claiming the title for the second time, after their first win in 2006.

A half-time score of one-all saw Korea’s return in the second half, scoring another two more goals. This sealed their second title after 10 years.

The National Football Stadium in Port Moresby was packed to the 15,000 crowd capacity. It was charged with an electric atmosphere with players responding with a thrilling contest throughout the entire duration of the game.

It was proven to be a match anticipated of near margins. The Koreans were relentless with their attacking with several last gasp tackles and blocks amid the action but France were equal on the task.

The early goal from holding midfielder,Geyoro gave France an early lead.

Lifted by their lead, France pressed forward with their attack and striker Clara Mateo’s shot on goal questioned the Korean defence.

But it took only 30 minutes before Korea DPR levelled the scoreboard with a flick at the near post by Wi Jong Sim.

Korea DPR trademark quick passing game was on show again- 8 minutes after the interval.

A run from Kim So Hyang down the right following a sharp exchange of passes threatened France’s defence yet again.

Then a deflected free-kick from Wi Jong Sim gave Kim Phyong Hwa the opportunity to extend the lead.

Final minutes to full time, Korea DPR was in the mood amid a flurry of substitutions and stoppages.

And despite late efforts from France charging forward, a Jon So Yon-penalty in the closing stages would seal the victory.

That goal saw Korea DPR crowned champions of the FIFA U-20 Women’s football tournament for the second time since 2006.
